The truth about mold/ black mold: There are currently 200,000 different types of molds that we know of. 80% of them are dark brown or black in color. The type of mold can not be determined by a visual inspection. (This is one reason why mold testing is important.)

This is because there are many people allergic to it and it is toxic to them. (I am allergic to chocolate. Chocolate is a toxin to me.)

There are many chemicals and products that are marketed for "killing and eliminating mold"; but when you read the label it states "you must first remove visible mold growth." (If you are removing the visible mold growth then why do you need their product?)
The truth about mold/ black mold: Kilz does not KILL! Kilz is a paint product that does and outstanding job at covering stains. It is a great paint product. It is a Primer, Stain Blocker that is also Tintable so you can get it in any color. But it does not kill mold. Several people have reported using Kilz or similar paint and end up calling because it has grown through the paint.
The truth about mold/ black mold: Dead mold spores are still allergens and are still capable of producing toxins. In addition is it dead or just dry? Many people believe that if it is dry it is dead. NOT TRUE! If it is dry it is dormant. It does not have the moisture it needs to grow (active). If the growth is active you will typically smell it before you see it.
